Summer is HERE!!

Summer is finally here!! It is so warm, it's the perfect time to change your furnace filters! Sounds weird, I know. Dirty filters affect the air quality in your home, exacerbating allergies. Also, if you don't replace them air can't pass through the system of the furnace, causing undue burden on the furnace itself. Not only is this not good for the furnace (potentially causing it to fail) but it costs you extra money on your utility bill. Really, these filters should be changed out every month, but that's not always feasible. Please try to do it at least every three months.

It's also time for some preventative landscaping. Keeping your bushes and trees trimmed encourages healthy growth, but it also keeps you aware if anything is blocking a window or door. Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) suggests keeping all bushes below 3 feet, and all trees up 7 feet. This is in an effort to "influence offender decisions that precede criminal acts by affecting the built, social and administrative environment". In English, discourage criminals from targeting your home!
